In 2007, the use of seat belts in motor vehicles saved an estimated
15,147 lives. Seat belts have saved 76,936 lives during the 5-year period from
2003 through 2007. These annual lives-saved counts, shown in Table 1 of the
attached file, have been produced by NHTSA's National Center for Statistics and
Analysis since 1975....

Thanksgiving Fatality Facts

The Nevada Seat Belt Coalition urges Nevadans to buckle up
and arrive alive this Holiday Season
The National Safety Council estimates that this Thanksgiving
Holiday there will be 479 fatalities on U.S. roads between 6:00 p.m. on
Wednesday through 11:59 p.m. on Sunday. The NSC also estimates there will
be 408 lives saved by wearing seat belts and another 115 lives could
be saved if people only buckled up.
The 479 estimate is a drop from 2007 estimates and totals.
In 2007 542 lives were lost and 564 were estimated to be lost.
